We are currently looking to add an experienced painter to our team. Our new hire will be the Lead Painter for our shop, but we are seeking a well-rounded shop worker who is able and willing to assist with other work as needed, including carpentry, vinyl application, and maintenance of existing inventory.


Demonstrated experience with spray applications including HVLP and/or airless.
Experience with filling, sanding, and body work, including use of Bondo, spackle, wood filler.
Understanding of proper surface preparation for a variety of coatings and substrates.
Understanding of and comfort with both water-based and solvent-based paints, stains, and clearcoats.
Ability to color match as needed.
Ability to determine appropriate paint application for a variety of surfaces and items including theatre flats, painted bars, and custom set pieces.
Ability to efficiently manage workload through strategic planning of spray booth space use and timing of coats and colors.
Ability to take ownership of entire finishing process, from raw wood to completed product, with little to no supervision.
Experience with faux finishes and scenic art preferred.


Maintain the shop and storage facility in a clean and safe condition.
Read/Interpret design drawings and sketches to understand project requirements.
Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.
Understanding of scenic carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
Understanding of basic math.
Good physical condition and endurance (able to stand and walk for long periods of time, able to lift at least 25 lbs, and able to work in areas without temperature control).
Tireless attention to detail and an ability to notice when things are visually “off”.
Ability to foresee problems and find creative solutions on the fly.
Willingness to travel occasionally, and work some weekends as needed.
A genuine interest in and excitement for building cool stuff.
