The Phoenix Theatre Company, a LOA LORT D Theatre, located in downtown Phoenix Arizona, is seeking scenic painting apprentice applications for their 2023-2024 season.
The apprentice program is designed for aspiring theatre artists to attain work experience while under the tutelage of industry professionals. Ideal candidates have completed a bachelor’s program or have similar industry experience. The program offers practical applications in multiple career fields including Scenic, Properties, Costumes, Lighting, Wardrobe, Sound, and Stage Management. This program is season long, averaging 51 weeks with flexible start and end dates and offers opportunities for growth in the applicant’s field of concentration.
The Phoenix Theatre Company developed and operates within a robust Covid safety system. We require all apprentices and staff to be fully vaccinated/up to date on boosters for in person work. All systems are assessed and updated periodically based on current AEA/CDC and state guidelines.
Scenic painting apprentice:
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, collaborative, positive, professional, and willing to learn. Experience with color mixing and standard theatrical painting techniques preferred. Duties include working as a member of the paint team for all productions, helping with inventories and shop organization, and assisting other departments as needed.
Compensation:
A weekly stipend is offered for your apprenticeship. Nonlocal apprentices are provided with fully furnished, single occupancy, all utilities included company housing in downtown Phoenix close to the theatre.
