Theatrical Production at Tisch is seeking Overhire Prop Artisans, Scenic Carpenters, Scenic Painters, lighting techs, MEs, and lx/sound ops who are independent contractors in need of short term overhire work.
We are a theatrical production department in an educational setting producing up to 14 plays and productions from August-April. We are looking for hard working individuals to add to our overhire team starting mid-August. We are located in downtown Manhattan.
9:30-5:30 M-F with some morning weekend shifts for tech rehearsals.
Competitive, hourly rates starting at $25 per hour.
Duties + Responsibilities:
Knowledge of safe shop practices and skill in using shop tools and equipment
Ability to read and interpret design and technical drawings
Be comfortable communicating and working with a team
Have well rounded, general construction and shop experience
Ability to work in a multitude of mediums
Willingness and ability to work with student designers and occasionally oversee student production associates + work-study employees
Hard working, highly motivated + efficient work ethic
Artistic ability with a keen eye for design
Able to work in a fast-paced environment + adapt quickly to shifting priorities
High-performance commitment with integrity and value
Positive, “can do” attitude
Safe work practices with ability to be aware of your surroundings
