SCENIC PAINT CHARGE:

Individual will interpret the scenic renderings and paint elevations and lead/teach/work alongside apprentices to bring the design to life. The charge scenic artist will work closely with the designer to complete the scenery as designed for the production. Ideal candidate is skilled in color theory and mixture, texture, preparation and aging of all surfaces. Must be able to produce paint samples as needed. Ideal candidate is an upperclass college student or recent graduate.

Individual may also be offered the chance to select masterclasses for students during the final week of each session, as well as a brief daily mini masterclass. These short classes will offer students the opportunity to learn advanced skills not normally taught at the high school level. Example courses for longer sessions include welding, drafting, and tech resume and portfolio creation. Exact class schedule and instructors will be determined each session in conjunction with Education Director based on student needs.

May 31th-August 9th
$4500 total contract, private bedroom (shared staff) apartment housing, nightly dinners, travel, weekly gas stipend.

For sixteen incredible summers, the Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute has welcomed extraordinary high school theatre students from across the US to beautiful Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for a month-long professional theatre experience that shapes these young people as both performers and people. SSTI will produce two full scale musicals in summer 2023, A Chorus Line and Guys and Dolls.
