American Heritage School Center for the Arts seeks a Scenic Designer/Charge Artist to join their production team.

American Heritage School is a top ranked private school located in South Florida. The Theatre Department produces 10 productions each academic year. The Fine Arts building includes a Broadway-style Proscenium theatre, a spacious Black Box theatre, and a classroom-style Studio Theatre supported by a fully equipped Scene Shop. American Heritage School offers a full range of Technical Theatre courses.

Position Objective:
The Scenic Designer/Scenic Art Teacher works with the Production Team and students to produce scenery for all theatrical productions and manages the functional and organizational elements of the paint shop and prop storage facilities. The position is responsible in advising any student led scenic designs, student charge artist, and student prop masters. They also serve as the advisor for the student scenic design competition for both junior high and high school students.

Key Responsibilities:
*Design & paint all upper school production OR act as faculty advisor for student designs.
*Provide props, or assist student prop masters for all upper school productions.
*Work with the TD to manage production design/paint schedules.
*Assist with after school student production hours
*Teach intro level basic design class, scenic art and scenic design classes.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*Strong understanding of standard scenic design & scenic art conventions
*Skilled in design drawings (VectorWorks preferred)
*Basic knowledge & vocabulary in other design fields (sound, lighting, costume, etc)
*Strong oral communication and listening skills
*Ability to multi-task and maintain flexibility
*Experience working with children (preferred)
*Ability to work with varying student skill levels at the same time
