The North Country Center for the Arts at Jean’s Playhouse, a 260-seat traditional summer stock theatre located in the rural resort town of Lincoln, NH, is now hiring for its 2023 Summer Season, which will feature an outdoor concert, as well as three indoor mainstage productions (titles TBD but include LEGALLY BLONDE + ON GOLDEN POND). We are requiring all applicants to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and willing to test, wear masks, and comply with other safety requests based on the current COVID climate.

The Scenic Painter is in charge of prepping and painting all scenic elements, including the show floor; based on the elevations, paint samples, and general design concept provided by the scenic designers. The Scenic Painter oversees purchase of paints and paint supplies, collaborates with the TD on budgets and scheduling work flow, and is able to work within and meet limited timelines. Candidates should be skilled artists, well-versed in theatrical painting techniques, such as wood grain, brick, stone, etc., with a working knowledge of various materials, texturing, and foam carving preferred. Lifting items up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders as well as maintaining the paint space and equipment are day to day activities in this position. The Scenic Painter assists during Load-ins and Strikes. While not required, a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Salary is $350 / week, plus shared housing in walking distance of the theatre, shops, as well as restaurants, grocery stores, and other common needs. Interested applicants should email a resume, portfolio (if available), and references. Interviews will take place in February.
