The Glimmerglass Festival seeks a Scenic Artist for its 2022 Festival Season. The Scenic Artist reports to the Charge Scenic Artist.

The Scenic Artist works as a member of a five person Paint Department team. This position has general supervisory responsibilities in regards to the two Scenic Art Apprentices who will be in the shop spaces with them. The primary goals of the position will include assisting in painting scenery for five mainstage productions and a youth opera, as well as touch-up/maintenance throughout the season. Candidates should be proficient in basic faux finishes, large scale drawing skills, color mixing, and paint application techniques. Familiarity with foam carving is a plus. A successful candidate will be able to clearly communicate various paint processes, and duplicate finishes provided by designers in various ways including verbal/written instructions, reference images, model pieces, and/or paint renderings. Scenic Artists will work individually and as part of a team. The responsibilities of this position require the employee to be physically present on campus to complete the tasks assigned. Some training opportunities may be available. Commitment to safe work habits and shop practices is essential. Must be willing to abide by Glimmerglass Festival’s current and potential future Covid-19 policies, including testing and wearing a mask on campus.

This position runs May 9th to July 31st 2022. $14.00/Hr. Includes Housing
