Great River Shakespeare Festival is looking for two Scenic Apprentices for the 2022 Summer Season.

Job Duties: Employee agrees to fulfill such duties to include but are not limited to:

Assist with build of set for 3 show season
Qualified applicants have a strong background in set construction and carpentry;
Ability to read shop drawings.
Strong understanding of theatre and production practices; run crew experience; a strong willingness to learn; willingness to work at heights and tight places ability to work productively and meet deadlines in an environment of change.
Work run crew for the 2022 season.

Full Covid Protocols are still being finalized for 2022 and will be adjusted based on union and CDC guidelines as the season approaches.

At the Great River Shakespeare Festival, Apprentices learn from nationally known, professional theater artists. The people you work with every day can be the beginning of your professional network and important connections to graduate programs and further training.

Apprentices also have the opportunity at various times throughout the summer to participate in workshops led by professionals within the company. Workshop topics are determined at the beginning of the season, depending upon the interests of the Apprentices . Past workshops have included Resume Evaluations, Portfolio Reviews, Molding and Casting, Rigging, Welding, and Paint Techniques. Workshops are open to all Apprentices regardless of department.

The Great River Shakespeare Festival, a professional Equity company on the banks of the Mississippi in Winona, Minnesota; GRSF presents its six-week long season of rotating repertory from late June to early August in the 430-seat mainstage theater on campus at Winona State University. The company will move to Winona for the season in early May, and move back home after closing in early August. Housing in Winona is free for company members.
