California’s Great America is looking for a supervisor to oversee props, set dressing, scenic art, and decor installation for Haunt, Winterfest, and festivals. This position is seasonal and will last from the hire date until the end of November, with potential to extend through end of January based on operational needs. There is some amount of creative influence and responsibility in this role, as they will sometimes be given a big scale theme and look, and other times given detailed installation instructions.

Reports to: Area Supervisor: Scenic Production, Operations Supervisor: Production

Oversees: Props technicians, scenic artists, decor technicians


– Must be 18+ years old

– Portfolio preferred

– Experience with power tools such as drills, saws, etc required

– Minimum 1 year experience with either props, set dressing, scenic construction, scenic art, or decor required

– Must be willing to work with “R” rated content (blood, gore, etc. for Halloween Haunt)

– Must be able to take direction and artistic criticism

– Must be able to work with production schedule

– Must be able to solve problems with minimal supervision

– Must be able to work in strobe lighting and flashing effects

– Must be able to work with and around chemicals such as but not limited to scent fluids, fog fluid, snow fluid, cleaning chemicals, etc

– Able to troubleshoot/problem solve

– Able to make quick decisions independently

– Able to follow written and verbal instructions

– Able to utilize strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills

– Able to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines

– Able to speed and understand English at a level sufficient to comprehend basic instructions from supervisors

– Must have reliable transportation

– Must be able to work nights, mornings, weekends, overnights, holidays, and overtime as necessary to meet business needs

– Able to pass a mandatory or random drug test

– Able to pass a background check, if 18+


– Oversee day to day of scenic art, props, decor, and set dressing installations for Haunt and Winterfest

– Create rough ideas and concepts for installations as needed

– Keep props and paint areas organized and maintain an inventory

– Conduct maintenance and repair of facility equipment

– Conduct daily checks for equipment as assigned

– Work with HVLP (conventional) spray equipment/airbrush spray gun

– Work with hand tools and power tools as needed

– Work on ladders, scaffold, and elevated platforms

– Follow designs and executed to designers standards

– Organize and install decorations for park events, as needed

– Adhere to Cedar Fair and specific park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance, and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment
