PAINTS STAFF
Pay: $15.00 an hour, hourly position
Housing: Shared housing shall be provided for a fee of $75.00 a week. The housing fee shall be deducted weekly from the employees paycheck. Housing has basic furnishings, is collegiate style, with shared bedrooms
Travel: Not provided

Primary Responsibilities
Essential functions include (but are not limited to):
-Mix colors based on designer renderings and color-matching based on existing pieces
-Base, primary, and finish painting of all hard pieces of scenery
– Sculpting and carving of foam shapes
-Laying out and painting of backdrops
-Work with the props department and scene shop on specialty paint and construction
-Touch-up and maintain all completed projects
-Organize, maintain, and clean workspaces and tools
-Attend/assist with all run-throughs, backstage prep, all technical rehearsals, performances, load ins, and strikes as scheduled
-Participate in MSMT events as needed and/or required
-Adhere to all MSMT policies and procedures including Covid 19 Guidelines + Safety protocols
-Drive MSMT vehicles
-Have a positive and respectful attitude
-Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful working environment
-Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Production and MSMT Annual Staff

Qualifications
The following skills and experience are required:
-Knowledge and experience of painting techniques, color mixing, sizing, and painting theatrical drops; theatrical carving and sculpting
-Intermediate knowledge of scenery construction
-Ability to read and interpret working drawings and renderings
-Preferred knowledge with safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Photoshop
-Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management, multi-tasking, problem solving, and communication skills
-Experience working in a fast-paced, energized, and quickly changing environment
-Able to work independently and as a team player
-Detail oriented; able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task
-Drivers license and clean driving record required
-Car preferred but not required
-Must be fully vaccinated and boosted from the Covid-19 virus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing
-Prolonged periods of working in dark, quiet, or enclosed spaces at the theatre
-Ability to regularly move and lift 30-50 lbs. All positions involve lifting and moving cumbersome boxes, packages, equipment, etc.
-Occasional ladder and MEWP (Personnel Lifts) work at heights up to 30 feet (technicians)

WORK WEEK AND HOURS
-MSMT standard work week is Monday through Sunday
-An average work week is between 50-70 hours
-Work hours follow rehearsal and performance schedules. All positions will work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required per department
-There will be a company day off every week except during tech week where some departments will get 2 daylight days of rest

EXEMPT AND HOURLY POSITIONS
-Hourly positions are non-exempt and are eligible for overtime
-Salaried positions are exempt and will not receive overtime

COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS
VACCINATION
MSMT is a fully vaccinated company. All employees must be fully vaccinated and have had all available vaccine boosters against the Covid-19 virus. Copies of vaccination card (s) must be provided to the Company Manager on the date of offer. Offers shall be rescinded if potential candidates cannot produce their vaccination card or medical documentation of vaccinations.

TESTING
All employees will be required to test on the first day of employment. During the season, all employees must be willing to be tested at the company’s discretion based on the current Covid climate, union agreements, and when deemed necessary. All applicable mandates by the Federal, State, and local governments Covid-19 guidelines, CDC Covid-19 guidelines, and MSMTs Covid-19 guidelines shall be adhered to.

MASKS
During the season, all employees must be willing to wear masks at MSMT venues, housing, events, etc. based on the current Covid climate, union agreements, and when deemed necessary. All applicable mandates by the Federal, State, and local governments Covid-19 guidelines, CDC Covid-19 guidelines, and MSMTs Covid-19 guidelines shall be adhered to.

Founded in 1959 by Victoria Crandall, Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) is a not-for-profit summer stock performing arts organization based in Brunswick, Maine.
