Job Description:
The Tony-award winning UTAH SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, a professional theatre company in residence at Southern Utah University, is accepting applications for Production Staff. The Utah Shakespeare Festival produces a eight show repertory season and three Greenshows across four venues in the summer/fall of each year. Position details below.
Contract dates vary by position. Most build contracts begin April/May and end June/July. Run contracts Begin in May/June and end September/October. Please check dates in specific job descriptions.
Charge Scenic Artist: Contracts begin early/late April and run through end of June/early July
Scenic Artist: Contracts begin mid April/Early May and run through end of June.
Junior Painter/Stage Crew: Contracts begin late May/early June and run through early September/mid-October.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Charge Scenic Artist: Oversees assigned scenic artists, and leads the scenic application of texture, three dimensional sculpting and scenery painting for assigned productions.
Scenic Artist: Responsible for painting and finishing of all scenic elements for assigned productions.
Junior Painter/Stage Crew: Responsible for painting and finishing of all scenic elements for assigned productions. Responsible for running, storage, and maintenance of paints for assigned productions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
All positions: Experience with scenic painting and finishing or related field
Charge Scenic Artist: Experience leading crews of scenic artists. Experience developing paint and finishing techniques for theatrical scenery are preferred.
