Maine State Music Theatre (MSMT) is in search of a full time/exempt seasonal Assistant Paints Charge.

Responsibilities for this position shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
– Assisting the Paint Charge Artist with supervising paint shop staff
– Assisting with painting and finishing of all scenic elements for each production in the season
– Assist in coordinating with designers and other departments
– Assist in maintaining inventory
– Acting as lead scenic charge on assigned individual projects
– Driving MSMT vehicles

QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred candidates will have:
-Comfortable managing others
– Confident as an artist
– Experience in stagecraft, art history, architecture, drawing, drafting, color theory + value, scenic tools + techniques, foam carving, texture coatings, faux finishing, painting of hard scenery, backdrops, translucencies, scrims, etc.
– Able to work independently or on a team
– Able follow directions, and learn new skills quickly
– Able to lift 25lbs

EMPLOYMENT DATES
•Must be available from June 1 – Oct 31, 2021. These are floating dates and may change

SALARY/BENEFITS
•Minimum Salary: $701.00 weekly
•Company Housing at no cost

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Vaccination: All employees and Educational Fellowship Participants must be fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus prior to arrival in Maine.

Testing: All employees and Educational Fellowship Participants will be required to be tested for the Covid-19 virus, and have a negative test result, 24 hours prior to arrival in Maine. Proof of negative test shall be required on the day of arrival. All employees and Educational Fellowship Participants shall be responsible for any pre-employment Covid-19 test costs. All employees and Educational Fellowship Participants shall be tested for the Covid-19 virus once a week, and at no cost, while at MSMT.

Masks: All employees and Educational Fellowship Participants will be required to wear masks at all MSMT venue’s, housing and follow applicable mandates by the Federal, State, and local governments Covid-19 guidelines, CDC Covid-19 guidelines, and MSMT’s Covid-19 guidelines while employed by MSMT.

Covid Guidelines: All employees and Educational Fellowship Participants will adhere to all Federal, State, and local governments Covid-19 guidelines, CDC Covid-19 guidelines and MSMT’s Covid-19 guidelines while employed by MSMT. Guidelines to be provided upon hiring.

Cars: For the safety of all employee and to be able to follow social distancing protocols, all employees and Educational Fellowship Participants must provide their own mode of transportation while in Maine. All car owners shall be provided a weekly gas card for the use of their cars for work purposes. A valid Drivers License and driving record must be provided upon hiring.
