The North Country Center for the Arts at Jean’s Playhouse, a 260-seat traditional summer stock theatre located in the rural resort town of Lincoln, NH, is seeking a Scenic Painter for its 2022 Summer Season, which will feature an outdoor concert version of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, as well as three mainstage productions, CABARET, MAMMA MIA!, and THE 39 STEPS. We are requiring all applicants to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and will have safety protocols in place based on the CDC recommendations and guidelines come spring.
The Scenic Painter is in charge of painting all scenic elements, including the floor, based on the elevations, paint samples, and general design concept provided by the scenic designers. The Scenic Painter must order paints, collaborate with the TD on budgets, and be a skilled artist, with experience specific to theatrical painting techniques, such as wood grain, brick, stone, etc. Lifting items up to 50 lbs, and climbing ladders are day to day activity in this position. The Scenic Painter also assists during Load-ins and Strikes, and may act as Running Crew for performances as needed, moving set pieces and following instruction of the stage management team. While not required, a valid driver’s license is preferred.
$300 / week, plus shared housing in walking distance of the theatre, shops, as well as restaurants, grocery stores, and other common needs.
