The award winning Winnipesaukee Playhouse is looking for a summer Scenic Charge Artist to be part of its production staff at our theatre facility, on our beautiful 12 acre campus in Meredith New Hampshire. This is a great “summer stock” opportunity for qualified candidates.

The Company
The theatre company was founded in 2004, with brand new facilities constructed in 2013.The Playhouse is a year round theatre operation that presents a six show professional summer season from June to early September, The Scenic Charge will work closely with Designers to execute all scenic treatments, as well as with the Technical Staff to coordinate and plan all tasks leading up to load in.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Painting and applying surface treatments to all scenic elements
-Carving, faux finishes and texturing.
-Attend all Production Meetings
-Act as part of a run crew as needed.
-Maintain a strict budget
-Keep the paint shop tools and work areas clean and safe.
-Assist in Load-in and change over of technical elements for each production.

Qualifications:
-Knowledge of theatrical scenic painting and surface treatments.
-Ability to read construction drawings and paint elevations.
-Capacity to solve problems and good communication skills.
-Maturity and understanding of the artistic process.
-Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
-Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work quickly and accurately with attention to detail.
-Valid driver’s license.
-Comfortable working at heights up to 17.’
-Proficiency using paint tools including cleaning, care, and maintenance.
-Proficiency in color matching.
-Ability to create faux finishes.
-Ability to create samples, marbling, and wood graining.
-Ability to lift 75lbs.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and is able to maintain a high level of production values. Standard work days are Monday – Sat, 9:00 am-5:00 pm. The salary for this position is $275/week, plus housing (all utilities/internet included). A summer gym membership is also part of the package.
