Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT seeks a paint and Props intern for its 2018-2019 season. Northern Stage is a LORT D 240 seat regional theater in VT, producing 6 mainstage shows, 4 educational productions, and 4-6 other events year-round, with the mainstage season falling between the months of August and May.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work with the Scenic Charge Artist and Props Master to paint, build, load in, and strike each show.
Provide support for events outside the mainstage and education seasons.
Act as part of a run crew as needed.
Keep work areas clean and safe.
Painting of scenery and Props
Procuring of Props from local businesses and other theaters
Small Craft Projects in Props
College degree in technical theatre
Knowledge of theatrical building techniques.
Ability to read construction drawings and build plans.
Capacity to solve problems.
Good communication skills – Must be a team player.
Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work quickly and accurately with attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a box truck required.
Comfortable working at heights in excess of 20 feet in a lift and on an expansion grid.
Ability to safely lift a full 50 lbs.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivating individual who prioritizes and executes required duties. This position helps other production departments as needed,and promotes a safe and healthy work environment. Some nights and weekends required. Standard work days are Monday – Friday, 8:00am-4:45pm.
Salary for this position is $150/week, plus pet-friendly housing valued at $200/week within walking distance of the theater (all utilities/internet included). Contract Dates: 9/17/18-4/14/19
