The Scenic Project Manager reports to the Owner/Senior Project Manager and interacts with the directors and designers on a project to establish artistic goals, technique, and scope all while meeting deadlines and working with budget limitations. The Scenic Project Manager also supervises lead scenic artists and scenic artists on projects in-shop and on-site to deliver on the goals of the project. This position provides a large deal of decision making including developing budgets and labor schedules and identifying and managing highly-skilled labor for overhire. Candidate must maximize use of the shop facilities by developing relationships with designers and fabricators to generate revenue. Must maintain a safe and productive work environment for scenics both in-shop and on-site by enforcing facility policies and striving to provide exceptional service at all times. The ideal candidate with be a dynamic and innovative leader with successful experience managing complex projects.

Additionally, the Scenic Project Manager will be expected to execute the following:

-Leading teams of scenics for calls and tasks both in and out of the shop
-Identifying scope of work for a given task, and taking responsibility to delegate and subdivide work loads into manageable segments to meet project deadlines
-Acting as a liaison between clients/designers and Infinite and the workers hired by Infinite, to keep projects on track for budget and schedule
-Keeping Infinite’s and client’s Project Managers updated on progress and potential problems in time to remedy them.
-Sampling techniques and seeking Infinite and client approval for methods and materials, and creating manageable schedules to suit client needs & Infinite’s budgets
-Preparing kit lists and coordinating the logistics of onsite jobs, packing kits, and keeping inventory supplied
-Making approved purchases and tracking receipts and budgets
-Maintaining clean and safe working conditions and keeping employees and nearby workers apprised of any potential hazards
-Helping train other employees to be diligent and skillful artists and managers, and keeping Infinite informed of employees’ progress and potential areas of growth, to help Infinite build a strong and competent call list.

This is a 40 hour/week job with some anticipated longer days, especially during our rush times from mid-January through mid-February, and early August through mid September yearly. Occasionally, a project will need attention on a weekend or evening, and the right person for this job must be ready to answer the phone after hours. The majority of the work will be in the East Orange, NJ office, with remote work options, candidate must be available to travel between NY and NJ. This position is eligible for full health benefits (medical/dental/vision/life), vacation, sick leave, and paid professional development time. Salary negotiable based on experience. Start date is flexible.

Candidate must have a minimum of five years of scenic art experience as well as two years of leadership experience. Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Cad and Vectorworks preferred. Technical experience working with hard and soft scenery as well as decor, event work including fashion events is a must. Flame Retardancy Certificate of Fitness preferred.
